Clint Greenwood Soccer Academy Proudly Graduates Two More Players to Major League Soccer
Former Players Christian Jimenez and Steven Arias Get Drafted by Club Deportivo Chivas USA
(CD Chivas USA) in the 2005 MLS Super Draft
Two former CGSA Team Program players, Christian Jimenez 18 and Esteban Arias age 22 both were drafted by the new franchise LA Chivas of Major League Soccer. Christian formerly played for SASC Sting and has trained with CGSA since the age of 13 and Steven formerly played for the Cal Heat and graduated and played under scholarship with the University of Connecticut. Both players being Mexican/American and will wear the famous red and white stripe jerseys of the prestigious and popular Mexican team the Chivas from Guadalajara.
Esteban Arias Drafted 36th (CD Chivas USA)
Steven has now joined his former CAl Heat teammates signing a professional contract after a very successful youth career with the Clint Greenwood Soccer Academy. Also playing in the MLS from CAl Heat is Leonard Griffin (Chicago Fire), Ty Maurin (Dallas Burn), Lindon Pecorelli (SJ Earthquakes), Kevin Ara (Real Salt Lake), and Landon Donovan (formerly SJ Earthquakes and now playing for Bayer Leverkusen, German Bundesliga).
Christian Jimenez Drafted 14th (CD Chivas USA)
Christian Jimenez of San Dimas has been training with the Academy since a young age. Played club soccer with South Bay Gunners, Celtic, Irvine Strikers, and SASC Sting. Played for US youth national team and one season at South Florida. One of the youngest players to get drafted this year.
Top CGSA Team Program Player, Jason Thompson of Pasadena, CA Is Currently on Professional Trials in Barcelona, Spain
Former SASC Sting 79-80 player and CGSA student and coach, Jason Thompson of Pasadena California is currently on professional trials in Barcelona, Spain. It has been 2 years since graduating the University of California Irvine where he was playing for the Men's Soccer Team under scholarship and has continued his quest to play professional soccer at the highest level. Thompson age 24 is one of the most talented players that has ever graduated from CGSA and had professional stints in Brasil and also for Colorado Rapids of the MLS in 2002.
